hey, I might not mind that too much...I'd take my boys (and/or girls) fishin all the time.
Jan 16th 2008
Jesus would probably end up taking the girls shopping afterwards because you may deprive them of it.. jk :]

Troy, you may have a point but - of course, Shiite moslems may do what their Shiite leaders tell them but probably don't does a sthe Sunne leaders say. Kind of like Protestants don't alway follow catholic beliefs.

Of course, we also come from a tradition which accepts that each person should test what their leaders say - which is good given the number of nuts out there confusing what God tries to tell them with what they make up, "hear" or believe what their own mental illness tells them.

So, yeah, maybe we do need to do what Jesus tells us. Everyone else is subject to consideration.

I think if everyone read the Bible more than they listened to a pastor (and I don't mean any offense to any pastor) we would all be better off. The Lord has written His word on all our hearts, not just those who stand behind a pulpit.
Jan 18th 2008
Can See Hidden
I definately agree with that. People do need to read the Bible more often especially since it is the word of God and it can help in so many ways that we don't even know are possible.
Jan 18th 2008
I agree with that also because no matter what we know everything in the Bible is true.

Liz-

My daddy always notes that his brother was the Sheriff for Shelby County, so he never gets picked either. But he thinks jury duty is a bad thing, but then again he can never make a decision...

do you think we should make teams by having a lottery?
Jan 30th 2008
Can See Hidden
Yeah, eventhough I am not always the last one picked, I still am uncomfortable watching the process. It is a very life like process but then aren't we at the church suppose to be hoping for better than just life like - more like what could or should like be like...
Jan 30th 2008

that last line should be " life be like"

Sorry

How about this? Instead of captains picking who is on their team - they choose who is on the other captains team? Could that then makes who get chosen first rather than last more of an issue - the whole chosing thing just inherently has problems...

Uh, maybe we have some of the smart computer folks in the group set up an rotating list which ensures everyone gets mixed up each time so everyone plays with different folks each week..
Jan 30th 2008
I we really don't want to alienate any one, I think a lottery system would work out pretty well. Everyone who wants to play takes a card (or paper or w/e) and puts in a hat (helmet, cup, bowl, toilet or w/e) and then we draw names one at a time, first for the red team then blue team and so on until all the names are gone. That way no one gets to pick who they want, and the kids who don't play well don't get left to end, at least not intentionally. We could even use people name tags. They could just take them off and fold them up, and then we wouldn't be wasting any more paper...What do you think?
Jan 30th 2008
Can See Hidden
Yeah, but then it's fairly possible that we end up getting two teams that are completely uneven in skill, which then makes the team on the losing end feel much worse than getting picked near to the last. I'd prefer to be picked last and win (which happenned very often to me in 8th grade) than to have random selection and lose.
Also, if we did the captain picking the other's team then they would just go in the reverse order, worst to best, so you would feel exactly the same way. However, you could forever say "I got picked first in football!"...so I think that idea is at least better than the randomness one.

Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner.
Jan 30th 2008
Yeah, I think I feel the same way Shawn does. Lets just stick to the way its been.
Jan 31st 2008
Alright, 5 random things...I can come up with more than 5 pretty easy, but I'll just leave 5 for now. By the way, these are in no particular order, just kinda how they came to mind...

1. I enjoy getting up well before the sun, and well before everyone else. Likewise, I really like it when I can go to bed before 930.

2. Honest to goodness, I think I'm addicted to fishing.

3. Don't like candy that much, or sweets in general.

4. I really like talking to people, communication in general.

5. I spend a lot of money on things that other people are dumb.

6. ( I know it more than 5, but I'm having fun) As much as I like talkin to folks, I enjoy being by myself just as much.

7. I enjoy the quite times.

8. Really bad at spelling.

9. I love being outside.

10. Technology annoys me.

11. I make a pretty mean BBQ sauce with Jack Daniel's whiskey.

12. I will spend more money on American made products.

13. I would like to race in the Baja 1000

14. I like my coffee black as tar.

15.Favorite T.V. show ever: The Dukes of Hazard

The Adventures of Huck Finn was by far one of my favorite books, until my English teacher decided to have our class over analyze it....I liked it at face value. I thought it was a neat story, and it is what gave me the idea of canoing down the Mighty Muddy, which I am gunna do some day. I wrote report on Huck Finn, and I got an A+! And I wrote it the day it was due!

Earth Day-I was told by Rachel it was Earth Day...so Rachel and Luke recruited the two neighbor girls and we picked up 5 bags of trash on the walking path behind our house that heads towards HSE. The kids were proud of how much trash they collected and I was proud too.

i agree with you troy i just finished a book and even though it was fiction it had the same sort of thing in it...basically this girl was very coquettish and was a liar but after she went through some tough things she decided to help another woman that was wronged build a womens house but people still saw her as this coquettish rich brat and they had to learn to realize that was her former self without God

I really liked what Liz said about community- and how that's in the Bible!- that we need community... also, "When two are gathered in my name, I'm there" verse just came to mind...

And Troy's blog was neat, too... kinda can't describe that.
